Meaning

Expresses the speaker's desires or hopes for a certain object. It cannot be used to express the desires of a third party, and it is usually considered impolite to ask a superior if they want something.

Note

Used for wanting physical objects or states (nouns). To express a desire to perform an action, use '〜たい'. To express a desire for someone else to do something, use '〜てほしい'. For third-party desires, '〜たがっている' or '〜欲しがっている' is required.
