Used to express two contrasting aspects of the same thing. It translates as 'on the other hand' or 'at the same time'.

Note

Focuses on contrasting positive and negative aspects of a single subject. While similar to '〜一方で', '〜反面' more strongly emphasizes the internal contradiction or dual nature.
