Used to express doubt or uncertainty to oneself. It can also be used as a soft way to ask a question to someone else.
Note
Primarily used for self-questioning or expressing internal doubt. '〜かな' is neutral/masculine colloquial, while '〜かなあ' extends the emotion of wondering. '〜かしら' is a feminine variant that sounds softer or more polite.
