Meaning

Used when saying that a decision has been made regardless of your own will, or as a result of circumstances.

Note

Expresses that a certain course of action or outcome has been decided by an external force, such as a group, organization, or fixed schedule. It implies that the speaker is not the sole decision-maker. It is often used for official arrangements, rules, or unavoidable consequences. Contrast this with '〜ことにする', which expresses the speaker's own personal decision or choice.

来月から日本へ出張することになりました。

It has been decided that I will go to Japan on a business trip from next month.

来月から新しいルールが始まることになります。
