〜ことはない
Formation
Meaning
Used to advise or criticize by saying there is no necessity to do something. It expresses that a certain action is not required or should be avoided in that specific situation.
Note
Primarily used to give advice or encouragement to someone who is worrying too much or taking unnecessary trouble. It conveys the nuance of 'Don't worry, you don't have to do that' or 'It's not that serious/necessary'. While it can be used for criticism ('You don't need to say it that way'), it is most commonly found in supportive contexts. Connects to the dictionary form of verbs.
