〜まみれ
Formation
Meaning
To be completely covered in or smeared with a substance, typically something messy or unpleasant like mud, blood, or dust.
Note
Used primarily for negative or messy substances that thoroughly coat a surface. Common examples include mud (泥), blood (血), sweat (汗), and oil (油). While '〜だらけ' can also mean 'covered with', it's more general and can describe discrete things scattered around (like mistakes or trash). '〜まみれ' suggests a coating or intensive staining. It is almost always used for unpleasant things.
