Meaning
Used to indicate that something is 'worthy of' or 'deserving of' a particular quality, such as appreciation, evaluation, or withstand a certain level of pressure or scrutiny.
Note
A formal and stiff expression. Often used to indicate that something has enough quality to be worth appreciation ('鑑賞に堪える') or enough strength to withstand pressure/criticism.

この作品は、長時間の鑑賞に堪える。
This work is worthy of long-term appreciation.
彼の論文は、学術的な批判に堪える内容だ。
His thesis is worthy of academic criticism (scrutiny).
この建物は、震度7の地震にも堪える設計になっている。
This building is designed to withstand an earthquake of intensity 7.
公開に堪えるだけのクオリティに達していない。
