Formation
Meaning
After a long process of doing something repeatedly or with great effort, a final result or decision is reached. Often used with 'considering', 'worrying', or 'discussing'.
Note
Implies that the final decision or result comes after a prolonged period of agonizing, discussing, or trying. It can be followed by either a positive or negative result (unlike 'ageku', which usually implies a negative outcome).

よく考えた末に、会社を辞めることにしました。
After much thought, I decided to quit the company.
苦労した末、ついに自分の店を持つことができた。
After much hard work, I was finally able to have my own shop.
悩んだ末に、彼に直接会って話すことにした。
After much agonizing, I decided to meet him in person and talk.
激しい議論の末に、ようやく新しい企画が承認された。
After much heated discussion, the new project was finally approved.
数ヶ月の延期の末、ようやく新製品が発売された。
After a delay of several months, the new product was finally released.
10時間のフライトの末に、ようやく成田空港に到着した。
