Meaning
Used to clarify or correct expectations based on a previous statement.
Note
Indicates that although a certain word or statement was used, the actual degree or situation is not as extreme or grand as one might expect. It adds a 'but actually...' or 'only to this extent' nuance to prevent misunderstanding of the initial claim.
Examples
彼はたくさん食べたといっても、パン一つだけだ。
Even though he said he ate a lot, it was just one piece of bread.
泳げるといっても、5メートルだけです。
Although I say I can swim, it's only for 5 meters.
このアパートは安いといっても、駅から遠い。
Even though this apartment is cheap, it's far from the station.
料理が美味しいといっても、自分では作れない。
Although I say the food is delicious, I can't make it myself.
