Meaning
Used to express that a certain state or action has been continuing throughout a relative period of time. Often preceded by 'koko' (these/this) or 'kono' (this) to emphasize the duration up until the present.
Note
Emphasizes a long duration or a continuous state. Often implies a strong feeling of 'it has been a long time'.
Examples
ここ一ヶ月というもの、休みなしで働いている。
For this past month, I've been working without any days off.
この一週間というもの、雨が降り続いていて、洗濯物が乾かない。
For this entire week, it's been raining continuously, and the laundry won't dry.
彼は大学を卒業してからの三年間というもの、ずっと海外を旅している。
For the three years since graduating from university, he has been traveling abroad.
ここ数日というもの、体調が優れず、食欲があまりない。
For the past few days, I haven't been feeling well and don't have much of an appetite.
