〜はまだしも

Meaning
If it were a certain situation, it might be somewhat acceptable, but the current situation is far beyond that. Used to express that the current state is worse than an alternative, even if that alternative isn't great either.
Note
Used in the form 'A は(なら)まだしも B' to express that A is barely acceptable but B is out of the question.
Examples
一泊はまだしも、海外旅行は無理だ。
A one-night stay might be okay, but an overseas trip is impossible.
一度ならまだしも、二度も三度もとなると許せない。
If it were once, it might be okay, but if it happens two or three times, I can't forgive it.
自分一人ならまだしも、家族がいるから無茶はできない。
If it were just me, it would be fine, but I have a family, so I can't be reckless.
十分ならまだしも、一時間も待たされるのは困る。
If it were ten minutes, I could manage, but being kept waiting for an hour is a problem.
小さなミスならまだしも、こんな大きな失敗は無視できない。
If it were a small mistake, it might be okay, but such a big failure cannot be ignored.
冗談ならまだしも、本気で言っているとしたら問題だ。
If it were a joke, it would be fine, but if you're serious, it's a problem.
子供はまだしも、大人がそんなことをするのは恥ずかしい。
It might be okay for children, but it's embarrassing for an adult to do such a thing.
日本語を話すだけならまだしも、漢字を書くのは難しい。
It might be okay just to speak Japanese, but writing kanji is difficult.
