Meaning
Considering ~; for ~; unusually ~ for ~. Used to express that something is out of proportion or unexpected given the standard or expectation. It indicates a contrast between what is normally expected from a certain fact and the actual situation. Can be used for both positive and negative outcomes.
Note
Similar to 'ni shite wa', but can be used for both positive and negative surprises. 'Ni shite wa' often implies a standard expectation, while 'wari ni' focuses on the proportion or degree.

毎日運動しているわりには、全然痩せない。
Despite exercising every day, I don't lose weight at all.
彼はよく食べるわりに、太らない。
Considering how much he eats, he doesn't get fat.
値段が高いわりに、美味しくない。
For being expensive, it's not delicious.
このカメラは古いわりには、よく撮れる。
For an old camera, it takes good pictures.
彼は有名なわりに、気取っていない。
Considering he is famous, he doesn't put on airs.
