Expresses a habitual effort or practice to do (or not do) something.

Emphasizes a continuous, intentional habit or effort. It is stronger and more specific about the ongoing nature of the effort than 'you-ni-suru'.

毎日、野菜をたくさん食べるようにしています。

I make an effort to eat many vegetables every day.

寝る前に、お酒を飲まないようにしています。

I try not to drink alcohol before going to bed.
