An auxiliary verb expressing that someone (usually a third person) appears to want or be eager to do something. It reports others' desires (derived from ~たい) and is not normally used for the first person.
彼は新しいカメラを買いたがっている。
He seems eager to buy a new camera.
子どもたちはまだ遊びたがっているから、もう少し待とう。
The children still want to play, so let's wait a bit longer.
田中さんは会議に出たがらないようだ。
It seems Tanaka doesn't want to attend the meeting.
