After much (often troublesome) progress or many events, used to express the final result—typically an undesirable or exasperating conclusion (commonly used as '~に挙句の果てに').
彼は借金を重ね、挙句の果てに家を失ってしまった。
He piled up debts and, in the end, lost his house.
いろいろ検討した挙句の果て、結局その案は却下された。
After much consideration, that proposal was ultimately rejected.
彼女は文句を言い続け、挙句の果てには会社を辞めてしまった。
She kept complaining and, in the end, resigned from the company.
