A grammatical term for the indirect passive, where the subject suffers inconvenience or harm as a result of someone else's action on something else (e.g., “I had my cake eaten by the child”).
私は子供に傘を壊された（＝子供が私の傘を壊して、私は迷惑を受けた）。これは間接受身の例だ。
My umbrella was broken by the child (i.e., the child broke my umbrella and I was inconvenienced). This is an example of the indirect passive.
彼は部下の失敗で評価を下げられた。本人が直接やったわけではないが、影響を受けているため間接受身になる。
He had his evaluation lowered because of a subordinate's mistake. He did not do it directly, but he was affected, so this is an indirect passive.
